If anyone has been checking here, you will have noticed I haven't posted in a long time. I switched to Xanga, because I caved to peer pressure, and because it looks better. SO, until further notice, Bubblegum Babylon shall henceforth be located at:

As many of you know, I am a freelance writer. One company I work for is Directory One, for who I am actually steadily employed as the staff copywriter. I write monthly articles for them on issues in website usability- something which, in all honesty, I know very little about.

But I must be better at BSing than I thought, though being a History major, I did have lots of practice. The articles I have been writing are being picked up by other companies in the industry!

My article "Website Usability, Breadcrumbs, and Left-Side Navigation" is this month's featured article at www.devwebpro.com, a website for professional website developers. I also discovered that some computer geek out there likes my work, because he mentions one of my articles in his blog (I love the name- Mitchelaneous). This is pretty fuckin cool, guys. I feel like a real writer, and I am being accepted in an industry I know next to nothing about!

I am really not trying to brag (well, maybe just a little) but rather just share my excitement and surprise.

I have two types of clients in my line of work as a freelance writer: those who are hyperactive and disorganized and tend to be scatterbrained, panicky, and very last-minute, or those who do not speak English. This week, I am working with both types. I am super-stressed already and it is only Sunday night.

Here is an example of an email from a client who wants me to write direct marketing sales letters for his credit card processing company. Seriously, I want you to try to read this:

"If you can write good sale letter, i 'll put your name on my contact list, why dont you try to write some thing about the service like we have, I need to see how good your B2B sale letter look like, look forware to here you."

Which is obviously why such people need to hire a writer for their public business correspondance. But, geez, it is really tough to interpret!

My Great Uncle John died the morning after Thanksgiving, and though I have lots of things to say about him and the funeral and how great it was so have so much family come into town, I am just not ready to yet. I love my family.

Blogger appears to be doing this delightfully shitty thing where they go into my blogs and stick links in whatever keyword they want. This is a test. Boyfriend. Girlfriend. Single. Date.

On my last post, I noticed the word "boyfriend" was strangely underlined, so I clicked on it, and it led to some stupid dating site! DAMN that's anoying. I may stop using Blogger. Stay tuned.

Hey, I LIKED the movie National Treasure. It was fun, exciting, had that good American History angle, and ended happily. Perfect Thanksgiving weekend movie to see with your two uncles, two cousins, and one boyfriend. I just wish Maddie didn't keep needing me to take her to the bathroom. But, anyhow, the reviews sucked, but I liked it. And I just wanted you to know.

Well, I am awake, and I am watching the Macy's parade on NBC. Is it me, or do the little "performances" suck? The stop and lip sync for ten seconds and then their song stops less than halfway through and they either cut to commercial or to the Barney Balloon! They spend twice the time talking about the balloons as they do letting the singers do their thing. It's weird to me. I haven't seen any Broadway numbers yet, do they cut those by a third or something? What is the point?

Aaanyhow, it is still a beautiful Thanksgiving Day. Last night I got to spend time with Kelli, who I have not seen since AUGUST so it was really quite a treat and we had fun talking about law school and just hanging out at Cecil's Pub.

Danny and his best friend Dan were Big Talkerslast night and at 2 am, after many beers, they still thought they were going to go to a driving range this morning- at like 9 am. And Dan lives an hour away. Well, Danny is still asleep as I write, so I guess they didn't quite make it, ha! Big Talkers :)

I am filled with Thanks today, for everything my life has become, and everything I have to look forward to. I love my friends, my family, my dogs, and my care bears. And tonight, I will love turkey!

Ohh, 638 cheerleaders are about to perform. Must watch and make jokes. I am by myself, but I'll still make fun of them.
